Six Discipling Failures

According to Bob Gilliam, there are six reasons why the church fails to make disciples:[1]

  1. Leaders don’t know what a disciple looks like.

  1. Leaders don’t know how to make a disciple even if they can define one.

  1. Leaders don’t know how church programs work together to make disciples.

  1. Leaders have no way to measure progress.

  1. Leaders aren’t model disciples and reproduce after their kind.

  1. Leaders don’t know how to become intentional without splitting their churches.
